10 THINGS TO DO BEFORE WINNING THE LOTTERY
July 7, 2011

We all know that eventually we’re going to win. But, what should we do before we win? Well, here are some tips:

1. Avoid making promises that you don’t intend to keep. We all say “if I win the lottery I’m going to buy you a car” or “Pay your mortgage” and stuff like that. Don’t do it because they will come back to haunt you. Why? Because even if you forget making those statements, that person will remember and come to collect their “due”.

2. Always keep at your side your lotto tickets before the drawing. This is true especially when large sums of money are involved – you’d be surprised to see how little a family tie or friendship means. As a precaution, you also want to sign on your lotto ticket immediately.

3. Be on a budget: don’t play more than you can afford. Keep it fun and positive! Enjoy it! Also, you can try playing with others to buy larger lotto tickets. Lottery numbers

4.  If you do this, then have the people sign a Pooling Agreement. Sharing with others it’s a great idea, but you need to be precise about how the winnings will be shared.

5. Don’t be afraid to skip a drawing.  If you play large amounts of money, then it’s better to only play once a month, for the big jackpot than every week. National lottery

6. Keep your tickets safe. This means that you should have them in a secure place. And always check them right after the drawing. Small prizes (under $600) should be collected right away because you usually only have 30 days to claim them.

7. Save your losing lottery tickets – that’s because they are tax deductible against your lottery wins.

8. Play low-odds games. It’s a good idea to play in a cash-5 game. You’ll win more smaller prizes! However, winning is winning!

9. Trust your hunches! No matter of your lottery system,  it’s always good to follow hunches. We all know that all the mathematics in the world can’t replace a bit of luck! Powerball lottery

10. Learn to say no. Do you have any idea how many people went bankrupt because they couldn’t say no and gave money to friends, relatives, neighbors, and such?  So, learn to say no! It’s your money, your luck, not theirs!
