ARIZONA STATE LOTTERY HITS RECORD SALES
August 19, 2011

It would appear that the lottery players in Arizona are spending more money than ever. The sales of lottery tickets are increasing faster than in any other state. A recent national comparison revealed that of all the state lottery sales, Arizona was ranked Nr.1  in the 2009-2010 fiscal year. But keep in mind that Arizona’s state lottery is very small when compared with others, like the ones from Massachusetts and New York. Those lotteries have billions of dollars worth of sales every year, while the Arizona State Lottery’s spending per capita is a lot lower than other lotteries. Lottery numbers

However, state authorities stated that the government in Arizona needs as much revenue as possible from the lottery, as budget cuts are quite common. They did not fail to mention that the lottery underwent many changes which made it a lot more appealing to the public. Odds for various games have been improved, new games have been introduced and the old ones have been revamped. Also, the lottery added a lot of new retailers. These changes were very important as the economy is still very weak and everybody is trying to cut back on their expenses. National lottery

“We knew we would have to act to counteract the recession, especially in Arizona,” Jeff Hatch-Miller, Executive Director of the Arizona State Lottery, stated. “We knew we had to really get out there and start listening more clearly to the players.”

Last year, the lottery also joined the multi state Mega Millions game. Back in 2008, the lottery introduced $20 instant scratch off lottery tickets, while keeping those with prices ranging from $1 to $10. Jeff Hatch-Miller said the lottery’s success is also due to the fact that its retailer displays have become a lot more visually appealing. Lottery results

Last year, the Auditor General’s Office said the best way to make more money is to increase the number of retailers, so players can have more places with available lottery tickets. As a result, the lottery added almost 100 new vending points which helped the sales increase by more than $2 million. Today, the lottery sells its tickets in every community within the state, at more than 2,800 retailers.

Well, that’s about it on the matter for now. However, we are not done with the topic and if you want to read more about it, you should really join us again as soon as possible.
