GREAT-GRANDMOTHER WINS $1 MILLION
December 14, 2011

Scratcher tickets are for everyone, that is how they have been designed, although there are dozens of variations, the principle is always the same, practically, whatever you see on the ticket you must match and the more you match, the greater the chances of winning. This type of lottery tickets apply to young (well not too young because it is illegal) and to old. The way it is designed is to provide the most excitement and pleasure in just the act of scratching and unfolding the great mystery: did the scratcher won or not.

It it such a simple game that Leola Murphy who is a great-grandmother was also interested in playing. And not only that, she chose the game that would actually give her a great prize even if she did not win the top prize. National lottery

Ms. Murphy knew she had a major winning ticket when she showed it to the manager of the store where she had just bought it.

“Wow!” the manager exclaimed. “I’ve never seen one of those before. Congratulations!”

The game Leola chose is called the $5 Million Club from the Virginia Lottery, Ms. Murphy won the game’s second prize of $1 million. She bought it at Miller Mart, 5009 Victory Boulevard in Tabb. Lottery numbers

For this prize, Ms. Murphy had the choice of taking the full $1 million over 25 years or a one-time cash option of $642,000 before taxes. She chose the cash option, which is a very intelligent option since she will be able to make use of it while she is alive. The store received a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Virginia’s $5 Million Club is a unique game for the Virginia Lottery because $1 million is actually the second prize. The game’s top prize is $5 million. For most scratcher games, the top prize is usually $1 million. Ms. Murphy is the game’s fifth $1 million winner, which means five million-dollar tickets remain unclaimed. Three $5 million tickets have been claimed, leaving two top-prize tickets unclaimed.

For those who cannot imagine an elderly lady scratching a ticket and actually winning, think again. Ms. Murphy was savvy enough to make various good decisions related to this win. First she picked the game that paid more amongst those of the same kind, that is how she actually landed a second prize of $1 million, second she took the cash option of the prize which is actually a hard decision because when you do that you only receive a portion of the $1 million but she weighed the pros and cons and made a wise decision.

So what are the plans of a great-grandmother when she wins the lottery? Ms. Murphy has declared that that she plans to share her winnings with her family, which includes several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cheers to her long life.
