John and Darlene Kinzel, from Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan, managed to win an awesome $40 million jackpot for last week’s Canadian Lotto Max draw. They went to claim their huge jackpot on Friday, and it appears it is the largest jackpot ever won in the province. Lottery numbers

John Kinzel purchased the lottery tickets at a Fas Gas Northside Service in Lloydminster, Alberta, and said he didn’t have any system for choosing the numbers. It was all random. However, even though he didn’t plan on picking those numbers, it looks like Mr. Kinzel will have a new favorite number from now on as all the winning numbers contained a 4. “I just randomly selected every number,” says John in a Saskatchewan Lotteries release.  “There was no rhyme or reason; they just subconsciously came into my head.  Now I like fours.”

An interesting and, honestly, quite funny fact is that John’s choices landed him with an additional bonus of $20. That means his total winnings were $40 million AND $20. Lottery winning numbers

The husband and wife said they don’t plan on moving out of their home. Paradise Hill is a small village with just 485 inhabitants. It is located about 250 km northwest of Saskatoon and the two retired people made it their home about 3 years ago. However, they did say the plan on using their windfall to travel a lot, construct a new house and help their family members as much as possible. The Western Canada Lottery Corporation released a statement saying that the Kinzels’s prize is the largest ever awarded in Saskatchewan. The previous record jackpot was won last year by another couple living in north Saskatchewan. That prize amassed to about $25 million.

The prize looked simply overjoyed in the photo they took with the oversized check. It is always amazing to find out about these types of winnings.
