NOTHING BETTER THAN BEING A PRO AT WORLD POKER
December 8, 2011

You can be a pro at a poker table simply pushing all your chips to the center of the table and topping your move with an “All In”. Adrenaline rushes, expectation builds up, the gazes of the other player do not reveal an inch of the cards they have in their power. Suddenly all cards are to your favor and you reap your rewards. Because of the magnetism that generates around poker tournaments, the Virginia Lottery decided to launch a scratcher game that would feature invaluable entries to the World Poker Tour. If you are a poker fan, most probably you would prefer to scratch and win nothing, so that you can enter your non-winning ticket in the second-chance lucky draw that will give you the entry ticket of this on-going poker excitement. However that is not the top prize, although many are focused in not winning. The top prize features $150, 000.

About a week ago, Tonch Bynum of Franklin discovered that he won the top prize with his World Poker Tour Scratcher ticket, he was so excited he left the store without a word. Talk about excitement in one ticket!

The avid poker fan bought five tickets at his favorite store: Park N Shop at 301 East Second Street in Franklin. He told Lottery officials he was shocked when he realized one of those tickets made him a $150,000 winner. Lottery winning numbers

World Poker Tour is one of dozens of games available from the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $5 to $150,000. This is the second top prize claimed in World Poker Tour which means three $150,000 tickets are unclaimed.

In addition, the World Poker Tour game has a Second Chance Sweepstakes in which players can enter non-winning World Poker Tour tickets for chances to win entry into a World Poker Tour tournament or prize packs.

We will but speculate that people who buy these tickets are either aiming to win some instant cash or wanting to actually win the ultimate poker experience that this game features. However for avid poker fans, the sweepstakes also offer very unique merchandise. For example one of the prizes is a quad-folding poker game table top measuring 52 inches across, 56 inches in diameter. The table includes eight (8) drink/chip holders, a professional black leather raised arm rest rail, royal blue surface with screened card symbols in the center of the table, Velcro stability closure, protective tape on the hinges and a sturdy carrying case. Don´t you think this is the best prop for someone with poker running through their veins?

We will never know what Mr. Bynum would have preferred, to be at a table of the World Poker Tour rubbing shoulders with the big ones or if he would have preferred the first prize which he won. What he did say is that he plans to use his winnings to pay a few bills, give to his grandchildren and enjoy his Christmas holiday.
