As a veteran, you serve your country with dignity and usually asking nothing in reward. On November 11, 2011, veterans throughout the states were honored for their dedication and service to our country. US lottery
As part of a personal ritual for that specific day, Navy veteran, Donald Hillian of Rocky Hill, took time off from work for a day of quiet reflection on Remembrance Day. He dedicated this day to remember all of the members of the armed forces who sacrificed their lives to defend their nation and also to honor his experience during service. Lottery results
He wanted just to do the things that normal people do, have the chance to wake up to his rhythm, go out for breakfast, get a haircut, and then to top it all off, he stopped to purchase a “Quick Pick” ticket for the Friday night Classic Lotto drawing. Then he went to sleep. All he wanted was a day full of tranquility and insight; that was enough for a guy whose intent for so long was to serve the country he loves and respects.
The next morning, Hillian woke up and went to the store and scanned his Classic Lotto ticket in a lottery “Ticket Checker” and discovered he was the single winning ticket holder for the $1.5 million Classic Lotto jackpot.
“I still feel like I’m dreaming,” said Hillian with a smile from ear to ear.
The six numbers on Hillian’s ticket were a perfect match with the Classic Lotto numbers drawn on that date, which were 1 – 4 – 6 – 24 – 29 – 34. Hillian’s winning jackpot ticket was the only one sold in that draw however there were 7,192 additional winning tickets sold with prizes from $2 up to $1,432 each. But none of the tickets had such an amazing prize as Hillian’s.
Classic Lotto’s jackpot prize is payable as a 21-year annuity or as a one-time cash lump-sum. Hillian arrived at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill early Monday morning and selected the jackpot’s one-time cash lump-sum value of $1,015,161 (before taxes). The Clasic Lotto game is a 6/44 game, meaning that you have to match 6-out-of-44 numbers to win the jackpot. The odds of matching all 6 numbers are approximately 1-in-7-million.
For selling Hillian his jackpot winning ticket, Townline Discount Wine and Liquor, located at 1303 Silas Deane Highway in Wethersfield, will receive a $10,000 bonus. Winning is really a win-win situation.
Hillian received his check on the 14th of November, 2011 for an amount of $693,355 (prize value after taxes) and chose the one-time lump-sum option. He was incredibly happy but he wished that his mom could have shared this luck with him. She passed away in 2007. He did not mention any specific plans in regards to this windfall.
